Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Ripple of Hope Gala

Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Ripple of Hope Gala

“Celebrating leaders of the international business, entertainment, and activist communities who have demonstrated a commitment to social change and reflect Robert Kennedy’s passion for equality, justice, basic human rights, and his belief that we all must strive to "make gentle the life of this world."

I have always been drawn to human rights and felt so compelled to write this article to cover this amazing Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Ripple of Hope Gala that took place on December 12 at the midtown Hilton in NYC. The Ripple of Hope Laureates included the 44th President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, Humana CEO Bruce D. Broussard, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, and Discovery President and CEO David Zaslav. The Robert F. Kennedy Gala also hosted over 1600 guests and raised over $6 million dollars while honoring leaders for their efforts in the fight for social change and human rights.

The Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Award focuses on honoring passionate people or organizations that use their voice and/or skills to fight against oppression. One honoree who I am mainly proud of who received the award is the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama. Former President Obama has been campaigning about hope for a long time so this award is well deserving. From the moment he spoke at the 2012 democratic convention as a senator, all eyes were watching Barack Obama as he received nationwide attention—-Fast forward years later he became President of the United States and represented hope for all mankind. Former President Obama receiving this award showing his passion for humanity is a great deal and I can’t wait to see more of his social justice that he adds to the world we live in.
