When YOU Love The Skin You're In--Nothing Else Matters.
Hey Friends! I was inspired to write this post after scrolling on instagram and came across a childhood friend who was in tears of joy after losing some pounds on her weight loss journey. I was almost in tears myself because I love to hear other people's struggles and how they overcame them. That is inspiring and also empowering all in one. What really caught my focus was when she said that she never liked wearing shorts because of her body-----FLASHBACK!! I used to be that girl. I remember when I hated wearing shorts outside because I thought my legs were too big. You never saw me in shorts outside when I was in my teenage years. Look at GROWTH!! Now I loveeeee wearing shorts and anything that shows off my figure. It is so encouraging to see people on a journey for themselves like no other. Everyone's journey and story is different and that's why we must selflessly embrace all kinds of people.
In a social media world where importance is placed on body image and what society deems as beauty, it can be very difficult to remain positive. As an influencer, my goal is to show people that it is okay to love the skin that they are in. A couple of weeks ago, I shaved off the side of my head. Was I nervous? Sure, I've never done that before. However, I always wanted to do it but was apprehensive because of my job, what people might think, or just silly comments from people whose opinions don't really matter. One day, I took a look at the people who I was inadvertently allowing to dictate my decisions.....lol. I re-checked myself and thought about the insecurities that I was putting out there. How dare I live for others. Being bold is how I live my life and that's what I am going to do. I went into the salon and told the stylist what I wanted and here I am....living life on my terms. Remember, sometimes people reject and project their insecurities on you because they are either amazed, jealous or fearful of you doing the things that they wish they could do.
Another example of someone loving the skin she is in- is plus size blogger GabiFresh.... She is also killing the game with her fashion. Have ya'll seen her instagram page???? Check her out and please make sure what you're doing in life is because YOU choose to! It is so important to love the skin you're in because it transcends outwards. If you pay attention closely like me, you can really tell someone who is genuinely content with themselves based on what transcends from their inward self to the outward. Oh yes people, we are more transparent than we think. Please spend time working on bettering yourself and doing what you love--because that's all that really matters...how you truly feel at the end of the day. See you next time. Love you all.
